Genres

The genre of a game generally pulls in different types of players, and defines how it plays, or what it is about. Genres of video games include: Action, Adventure, Casual, Role - Playing Games (RPGs), Massive Multiplayer Online (MMOs), Fighting, Racing, Shooter, Strategy, and many more genres. Currently (2016-17) the top genres of of video games are: #1: Shooter, #2: Action, and #3: Sports games. Shooters, as the name implies, are games in which you shoot some sort of object or enemies. Action games could also include some of the parts that make a shooter as well as having some sort of adventure/exploration, intense story climaxes, etc. Sports games, of course, are games about sports like: football, soccer/Futbol, hockey, and other sports even with the real-world team players’ names, & teams.
